Earlier this month, our Principal Hydrogeologist, Chris Woodhouse, attended the Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference in Edinburgh.
The three-day event, run by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, brought together academic, business, trade and subject matter experts to share knowledge and learn about the latest innovations in distilling worldwide.
As part of the event, Chris heard from keynote speaker Ewan Andrew, who oversees supply chain operations and sustainability at Diageo, and Conference Chair Jane Millar, of William Grant and Sons Ltd.
Chris was also amongst the delegates to present an ePoster, which gained fantastic interest and traction. The poster was centred on preparing for the impacts of climate change on water resources in the distilling sector.
Following the establishment of our office in Stirling, Scotland, working alongside our managing director, Dr Phil Ham and Senior Hydrogeologist Shona Symon, Chris has been spearheading our ability to solve water-related problems and deliver ambitious engineering projects at our client's distillation and maturation sites across Scotland.
In Speyside, climate models predict an increasing frequency of droughts, which puts pressure on water resources. In the following poster, our specialists outline how they assist clients in identifying the most resilient sources and aid decision-making processes to mitigate climate impacts.
