The month of May blessed us with sunshine and blue skies, but not much in the way of rain… so we decided to test your knowledge on all things water with our #triviatuesday! How many questions did you get right?

Week 1 – Trickle Irrigation

The first week of #triviatuesday tested your knowledge on trickle irrigation, which improves water efficiency by 40%. In times of drought, this improvement in water efficiency can greatly improve agricultural production by ensuring water is targeted where it is needed and providing more water for use throughout the growing season.

Developing, managing and licensing independent water supplies is complex. Deciding which irrigation system to use can be tricky, as factors such as plant species, soil type and land formation determine which system will provide the best efficiency. Envireau Water’s team of water resource specialists have expert knowledge that will ensure you make the right decision.

Week 2 – Environmental Monitoring

Water is an essential part of production in the food and drink industry. Keeping water sources uncontaminated is key to ensuring the sustainability of both the industry and the environment. Malt whisky production uses large quantities of water, particularly for cooling, however, 85% of water abstracted is returned to the environment uncontaminated. Whatever the industry, ensuring that any water discharged to surface water or groundwater is of an acceptable standard is key for regulatory compliance.

Envireau Water has extensive experience of designing and implementing schemes of monitoring for a wide range of applications, using a variety of hydrometric monitoring equipment. Our expert knowledge of different monitoring systems, combined with our in-depth understanding of the UK regulatory framework, ensures that our clients’ monitoring requirements are fulfilled at the most appropriate level to achieve environmental compliance.

Week 3 – Flood Risk Management

Many homes are now being built within high flood risk areas, meaning 1 in 6 homes across England are at risk of flooding and this number is set to increase over the next 10 years. Therefore, flood risk management is crucial to help reduce and minimise the effects of natural flooding events. With our team’s knowledge of sustainable urban drainage systems and natural flood management systems, we are able to help our clients hugely reduce the chances.
