Early Career Women in Water 2021 Conference

March 9, 2021

At Envireau Water, any event which encourages or promotes the uptake of careers within the water sector is an important event to us. Yesterday, Cranfield University hosted their annual Early Career Women in Water Conference, which we are proud to have sponsored.

The conference offered a platform to share and celebrate the success of women within the water sector, aiming to raise the profile and encourage more women to aspire to roles within STEM and specifically, the water sector. Open to both men and women, the programme included keynote speakers, presentations and a discussion panel debating on the progress of gender equality in the water sector.

Eleanor, our senior geoscientist and Rebecca, our senior hydrologist, both attended the event and presented posters on recent projects undertaken at Envireau Water. Reflecting on the day, Rebecca said…

"A very fitting event for International Women’s Day 2021! It was brilliant to be involved with a conference that showcased the progress women have made in the water sector.

The speakers were from a variety of educational backgrounds, so not only was it engaging to learn something new, but it was also fantastic to see so many women succeeding in their technical roles.

The day also saw some very important discussions surrounding areas which still require improvement regarding equality in the water sector, which I was proud to be a part of. The virtual event was great, though next year I’m hoping to meet some of the fantastic women in person!”

Take a look at the project posters our female scientists presented… Needless to say that if you wish to discuss the content of the posters in any more detail, then please get in touch with Eleanor@envireauwater.co.uk or Rebecca@envireauwater.co.uk.
