Water Management Webinar

February 27, 2020

The Institute of Quarrying have released their water management webinar!

Our water management specialist James Dodds has recorded a highly informative webinar with the Institute of Quarrying. James is joined by Sharon Palmer, the national environmental permitting manager at Tarmac, as they delve into the wonderful world of water management and the new water abstraction licensing regime.

As of January 2018 all quarries now require abstraction licences for dewatering as well as the ancillary uses. By the end of June 2020 all abstractions should have been covered by a validated Transitional Provisions abstraction licence application. However, under new requirements specified in this report you may be required to submit an application for “New Water”.

Take the plunge and listen to James and Sharon chat about the following questions:

  • What is the current situation with regards to the transition period for water abstraction licences?
  • If I have had my historic water use validated under the transitional arrangements, do I need to do anything?
  • What does the new water application process involve?
  • How do I know what type of licence to apply for?
  • Does it matter if the water we use for dewatering is mainly rainwater?
  • What about if I have sites in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?

Got a question? Envireau Water are the leaders in New Water Licensing. Our relationship with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales built over many years of negotiating licences enables us to find effective solutions and push boundaries.
