Sewage Rules... The Legal Bit

January 21, 2020

We don’t really love the smelly stuff, but do you know the legalities of not being connected to a mains sewer?

The discharge of your sewage in England is regulated by the Environment Agency and that means you must meet the conditions of the General Binding Rules.

That means if you’ve got a septic tank, small sewage treatment plant or cesspool/pit you need to read our bulletin below! We explain all about the General Binding Rules, the differences in releasing to ground and surface water, and whether you need a Standard Rules Permit or a Bespoke Permit:

Do you know what the new regulations that came into effect in January 2015 mean for you?

Our team would be happy to help you, after all, there are a number of factors in addition to those mentioned above that could make things harder! From groundwater to surface water, we are experts. Contact Penny Jenkinson on 01748 889 272 or Penny@envireauwater.co.uk with details of your water discharge to see how we can help.
