Quarry Dewatering: A New Era

February 10, 2020

Understanding the new water abstraction licensing regime and its implications in England and Wales.

Our Water Management Specialist, James Dodds has been published in the February edition of Quarry Management. The special report delves into the new water abstraction licensing regime and its implications in England and Wales.

As of January 2018 all quarries now require abstraction licences for dewatering as well as the ancillary uses. By the end of June 2020 all abstractions should have been covered by a validated Transitional Provisions abstraction licence application. However, under new requirements specified in this report you may be required to submit an application for “New Water”.
