Looking back on The Hydrogeological Group's 2023 conference

June 13, 2023

Last month, three hydrogeologists from the Envireau Team headed to London to take part in this year's conference, ‘Monitoring the Aquifers’, at Burlington House.

The two day conference, held by the Hydrogeological Group, saw a great turn out of professionals across sectors come together to share insight and learn more about aquifer monitoring.

As part of the event, we heard from keynote speakers Ty Ferre and John Chilton, as well other industry experts, including some of our own! Penny spent time enlightening us on the ‘Conceptualisation of a Mineral Deposit’ during the first morning’s poster session, before Deborah and Jenny presented a case study on ‘Monitoring Surface Expressions of Groundwater in Karst Aquifer Systems’.

Addressing current practice and future opportunities covering all aspects of aquifer monitoring, it was great to have the opportunity to share our input and network with others across the industry. And, it was a great success as Penny proudly won the day’s poster competition with her contribution.

Penny commented, “Attending this year's conference alongside Jenny and Deborah was a pleasure. The conference was buzzing with like-minded professionals who presented many examples of well-designed monitoring schemes reiterating the significance of collecting the right data, using the right equipment, and covering the right time.

It was also an excellent opportunity to showcase our work at Envireau Water and the importance of using monitoring data to feed into our understanding of groundwater systems. I was delighted to win the best poster against such tough competition".
