People are being evacuated from their homes and there is chaos on the roads and trains after a month’s worth of rain fell in 24 hours in parts of South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. Our Hydrologist, Michael Underwood, who lives in South Yorkshire witnessed some of the flooding yesterday evening.
The Environment Agency issued multiple severe warnings – meaning a danger to life – many of which remain in place along the River Don in Doncaster with some residents being told to leave their homes. More than 100 flood warnings are in place across England. The flood information service provides up to date information on current flood alerts and warnings.
