Compliance With Your Abstraction Licence

September 21, 2020

As businesses recover from the pandemic, responsible steps are still expected to comply with regulatory requirements.

Covid-19 is still casting a cloud of uncertainty over the world and while many aspects of life are slowly returning to a more familiar way, others are not quite there. However, you can add a little more certainty by completing your water abstraction returns.

The Environment Agency has just informed us on current updates, ‘At this time, there’s no deadline for submitting your returns for the abstraction period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020’. The Environment Agency still expects responsible steps to be taken to comply with regulatory requirements; just because there are no deadlines does not mean compliance goes out the window! It is important to continue collecting abstraction volumes and any other data that may be required by your licence, even if they are not submitted.

What do we suggest?

We recommend you stay ahead and submit your returns. Our team can assist you in submitting your returns and developing an appropriate strategy to manage compliance. Whatever your situation get in touch and our experts James, JamesDodds@envireauwater.co.uk or Phil, PhilHam@envireauwater.co.uk and they will be able to offer advice that best suits you. You can also call us on 01332 871 882.
