In a world where environmental concerns are increasingly taking centre stage, the importance of sustainability cannot be overstated. Companies across industries recognise the need to prioritise sustainability in their operations and decision-making processes.
For Envireau Water, this commitment to sustainability is not just a buzzword but a guiding principle that drives our actions and decisions. As we gear up for the Borehole Users Conference 2023, we want to highlight why sustainability is a key theme for this year's event.
Why Sustainability?
Let us start by exploring what sustainability truly means to us. Sustainability involves meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It encompasses environmental, social, and economic dimensions and requires us to make responsible choices that balance these elements.
At Envireau Water, we realise we are uniquely positioned. We can support our clients and influence suppliers to optimise processes and minimise the environmental impacts of operations with our expertise. The borehole users conference offers the perfect forum to gather owners, operators, and regulators of water supplies to explore what sustainability means for the industry and deliver practical, actionable advice.
So, what can we expect from the day?
BHUC2023 will tackle sustainability from multiple angles. We will consider the equitable and responsible use of water resources and practical ways operators can reduce environmental footprints by optimising how boreholes are designed and operated.
Equitable Water Use: Our keynote speakers, Dr Stephanie Wray from The RSK Group and Andy Turner from the Environment Agency, will emphasise the critical importance of effective groundwater resource management in the face of increasing demand, climate change, pollution, and over-abstraction. Their insights will underscore the global and regulatory significance of this issue.
Optimising Borehole Water Supply: David Banks from Holymoor Consulting will explore how the design of your borehole water supply can lead to supply optimisation, increased pump efficiency, and enhanced water quality. This discussion will transition into Jason Richards' presentation from Silcock Leedham Group, which will delve into technologies to reduce energy consumption, carbon footprints, and operating costs associated with water supply operations.
Interactive Workshops: In the afternoon, Workshop One, titled "Borehole Design: Back to the Drawing Board," will provide a platform to discuss design approaches, share case studies, and exchange success stories. Meanwhile, in Workshop Two, "Water Stewardship," delegates will explore how water stewardship provides an effective framework for operators to achieve their own sustainability goals and work collaboratively with other stakeholders to mitigate against water scarcity in the face of climate change.
